EQO-NIXUS will be implementing a new project to promote the development of rural electrification in Liberia. The project will be funded by the European Commission and will take place between February and May 2018. The project is part of the EU’s Rural Energy Strategy and Master Plan for Liberia.

EQO-NIXUS will be in charge of preparing different documents and reports for the promotion of rural electrification: tender documents for works and services divided in several lots; an analysis on the possibilities and past experiences of the pre-paid meters in Sub-Saharan Africa and two pre-feasibility studies for two electricity networks.

The project will be focused on the South-East part of Liberia. The country has a relevant lack of infrastructures due to the damages caused during the Civil War that took place at the country between 1989 and 2003.
